Newly listed chemicals under the Rotterdam Convention – Fact sheets

Newly listed chemicals under the Rotterdam Convention

The Rotterdam Convention is a multilateral environmental agreement (MEA) that promotes shared responsibility and cooperative efforts in the international trade of certain hazardous chemicals and pesticides. It does this through the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) procedure, which ensures that importing countries receive the information they need to make informed decisions before such substances enter their borders. The Convention established a Chemical Review Committee (CRC) to examine notifications from Parties on chemicals that may warrant inclusion under the PIC procedure. Please see our fact sheets on chemicals that were recently added to the Rotterdam Convention.
