Review and Update of the National Implementation Plan under the Stockholm Convention for Guyana
This project facilitated the implementation of the Stockholm Convention in Guyana through the review, update, and transmission of Guyana’s National Implementation Plan (NIP) to the Stockholm Convention Secretariat.
Capacity Building Related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements in the African, Caribbean and Pacific Countries – Technical Assistance to support Caribbean Countries
This project, executed in collaboration with CARICOM, assessed existing legislative frameworks, international guidelines, and training on the introduction of new chemicals for Final Regulatory Action (FRA) under the Rotterdam Convention. These activities culminated in two (2) regional training workshops held in March 2025, on FRAs as well as updating National Implementation Plans and the environmentally sound management of Persistent Organic Pollutants.
Testing of Inventory Guidance of Plastic Waste and Testing of Technical Guidelines on the ESM of Plastic Waste.
This project tested the practical guidance document on the development of inventories on plastic waste, and the Basel Convention Technical Guidelines on the ESM of plastic wastes in the Caribbean, in Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia and Suriname.
Development of Inventories of Obsolete Pesticides and Pesticide Container Waste
This project, funded by the BRS Secretariat, developed national inventories of pesticide-container waste in Antigua and Barbuda and Guyana, and assessed the baselines of the management of waste pesticide containers in relation to the Practical Guidelines and recommendations for improving current practices in both project countries.
Capacity Development to Catalyze Actions and Commitments at the National and Global Level to Reduce Plastic Pollution including in the Marine Environment
This project supported Trinidad and Tobago in undertaking enabling actions and commitments at the national and global levels, to reduce marine plastic pollution. This project was executed in collaboration with the Environmental Policy and Planning Division of the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development.
