Consultancy Opportunity – Development of a Biopesticides Registration Manual and Training Programme for the Caribbean

The Implementing Sustainable Low and Non-Chemical Development in Small Island Developing States (ISLANDS) programme seeks to address the sound management of chemicals and waste in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). This ISLANDS programme covers four (4) geographical regions including the Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Pacific Islands, and Atlantic Ocean Islands

The Caribbean projects under the GEF ISLANDS Programme are implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

One of the Caribbean projects which the Basel Convention Regional Centre for Training and Technology Transfer for the Caribbean (BCRC-Caribbean) is executing under the GEF ISLANDS Programme is the GEF 10279 project, which involves nine (9) countries – Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

As part of the FAO-implemented activities under GEF 10279, the project seeks to develop a manual and training programme to support the registration of biopesticides in the Caribbean.

In this regard, the BCRC-Caribbean is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced individual consultant to conduct an assessment on the baseline situation with respect to the usage and registration of biopesticides in the nine (9) project countries, and to subsequently develop a manual on the registration of biopesticides and deliver a regional training programme on same for the Caribbean region.
