The BCRC-Caribbean is currently executing a regional project entitled “GEF 5558: Development and Implementation of a Sustainable Management Mechanism for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in Eight (8) Caribbean Countries”. The project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and is being implemented through the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).
The mainstreaming of sound management of chemicals, particularly POPs, into national policies is expected to have significant positive impact on legislative development patterns of the eight (8) project countries. Under Output 1.2, the project developed a Model Regional Integrated Chemicals Management Act. This Model Act was developed in collaboration with the Government of Saint Lucia, the Department of Sustainable Development and a Steering Committee over the period 2017- 2018. The Government of Saint Lucia has since expressed interest in developing the Policy Framework to advance the national roadmap.
The BCRC-Caribbean, now seeks to engage suitably qualified Legal Expert(s) to support with the harmonisation of existing legislation for chemicals management with the Regional Integrated Chemicals Management Model Act in Saint Lucia.

NOTE: Applications from persons currently residing in Saint Lucia and/or collaborations with person currently residing in Saint Lucia are highly preferred for this Consultancy.
