Jamaica’s Results Workshop for the Mercury Storage and Disposal Project in the Caribbean was held today at the office of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Jamaica. The focus of the workshop was on each country’s national action plan and the next steps to be taken in order to ensure successful execution of mercury management and possible ratification of the Minamata Convention. The mercury inventory was conducted with the assistance of intern April Johnson (on behalf of the BCRC-Caribbean and the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation) and in strong collaboration with stakeholders from relevant sectors. Ms. Johnson presented the findings of the inventory. Stakeholders in attendance included those from the relevant ministries, bauxite industry, cement production industry and the dental sector, among others.
