SUMMARY:Regional Preparatory Meeting for the 2025 Conference of Parties (COPs) for the Basel\, Rotterdam and Stockholm (BRS) Conventions\, for the Group of Latin America and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) in Trinidad and Tobago\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:The GRULAC Regional Preparatory Meeting for the 2025 BRS COPs will be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago\, by the BCRC-Caribbean in collaboration with the BRS Secretariat. Attendees from thirty-one (31) Parties to the Conventions in the GRULAC Region are expected to attend. The meeting will span three (3) days from March 18 – 20\, 2025 at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre. This meeting will enable Parties to prepare for the 2025 BRS COPs\, discuss pertinent matters and identify regional priorities and challenges to achieving the goals of the Basel\, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions.  \nTravel Information \nVisa Requirements \nAll participants should determine whether or not a visa or any formal document is required for entry into Trinidad and Tobago. It is the responsibility of the attendee to obtain their visa. However\, if assistance is needed\, the BCRC-Caribbean can lend support by providing the necessary supporting documentation. Please note that the BCRC-Caribbean will be doing visa waivers for the required countries. \nTravel  \nTravel for funded participants will be arranged by the BCRC-Caribbean through A’s Travel Service Ltd. DESCRIPTION:The Regional Hybrid Training Workshop on the Environmentally Sound Management (ESM) of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) will be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago\, by the BCRC Caribbean on March 21\, 2025\, at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre. This workshop falls under the programme Capacity Building Related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements in African\, Caribbean and Pacific Countries (CARICOM ACP MEAs). The purpose of this workshop is to provide an overview of the techniques for the ESM of POPs within the Caribbean context\, and to share case studies of best practices for the ESM of POPs within the Caribbean.

SUMMARY:Meetings of the conferences of the Parties to the Basel\, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions in 2025
DESCRIPTION:From April 28 to May 9\, 2025\, the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention\, the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention and the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention will be held consecutively at the Geneva International Conference Centre (CICG). This year’s theme is “Make visible the invisible: Sound management of chemicals and wastes”.   \nRegistration  \nParties are invited to transmit credentials for their registered representatives. A model form of credentials is available in Arabic\, Chinese\, English\, French\, Russian and Spanish on the meetings’ credentials webpage.   \nTravel Information  \nVisa Requirements  \nIt is the responsibility of each participant to apply for the required visa. Visas must be obtained prior to arrival. Please note that a Schengen visa is required even for transiting through Schengen zone European Countries. It is strongly recommended that visa applications be made with sufficient time in advance\, so that a Schengen visa can be issued.  \nGround transportation  \nAs it relates to ground transportation to the CICG\, participants are advised that the main railway station (Geneve Cornavin) is located two (2) kilometres away. The CICG and Geneve Cornavin are connected via tramway\, buses and taxis. CICG can be reached from the main railway station by taking bus number 5 (alight at either the Vermont stop or the Varembé stop)\, bus number 8 (alight at the International Telecommunications Union stop) or tram number 13 or 15 in the direction of Nations (alight at Sismondi).
