The BCRC-Caribbean and Department of Environmental Planning and Protection (DEPP) are currently co-executing  a national project entitled “GEF 10585: Development of Minamata Initial Assessment in the Caribbean- The Bahamas”. The project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and is being implemented through the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). In support of the project implementation, the BCRC-Caribbean and the DEPP are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced consultant(s) or consulting firm to provide key legal services.

These services would lead to a review of the existing legislation and institutions as they pertain to mercury management in The Bahamas, as well as an assessment of how the existing legislation and institutions relate to implementing the obligations of the Minamata Convention on Mercury in The Bahamas.
