On Tuesday January 30th 2018, the BCRC-Caribbean paid tribute to our dear friend, colleague, confidant and mentor, Richard Stanislaus Laydoo. Richard passed away suddenly in the early morning of Wednesday 24th January 2018 and his remains were returned to the earth after a Mass at the St Anthony’s R.C Church in Petit Valley on January 30th, 2018. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth and daughters Zoe and Gabriella.
Richard Laydoo served as the Head of the Project Management Unit here at the BCRC-Caribbean. During his time with us, his dedication to the work of the Centre and his work ethic driven by professionalism, a fierce sense of integrity and a passion for environmental sustainability, was evident. But it is Richard’s infectious sense of humour and his seemingly never ending positive outlook on life that would be the primary characteristics that would define his memory among those who were fortunate to have known him.
Richard chose to retire in March 2017 after the onset of his critical illness in early January of 2017. One can only hope that the period that followed leading up to his passing on January 24th, would have been filled with precious time spent with his family and those who he held dear. May those memories now provide his family with comfort and solace as they face the difficult period of adjustment ahead.
We take a moment now to remember our dear friend with a few memories of our own. May his eternal soul find everlasting peace……
